Joint ventures, strategic alliances and other  forms of partnerships present an opportunity for the advancement of technology transfer within any jurisdiction. Over the years, several models have been identified to accelerate the transfer of technology and know-how to organizations and its employee. Traditional linear model of technology transfer may no longer be sufficient to ensure a seamless technology transfer process. A one-size-fits-all approach to technology transfer will also not suffice due to differences in levels of development and cultures both at an organizational and host country levels. The adoption of different methodological approaches to operations such as lean thinking, agile methodology, etc., by organizations which if not properly assigned may hinder intra-organizational transfer of technology and skills.

This session will discuss technology and skills transfer from both theoretical and practical perspective and highlight the current technology transfer models which could be adopted in Ghana’s upstream oil and gas industry.
