Dr. Kwame Amoah Baah-Nuakoh is the General Manager, Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. He is responsible for the Social Performance, Local Content and Corporate Affairs functions at the national oil company.
He was instrumental in the setting up of the GNPC Foundation, the Corporate Social Investment arm of the Corporation where he laid an exemplary marker in the delivery of several social impact programmes as its first Executive Director and Member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and thus, setting GNPC on its current course as a leader in the corporate social investment space in Ghana.
Prior to joining GNPC, Dr Baah-Nuakoh was the Senior Vice-President and Head of Marketing, Research and Corporate Affairs at The Royal Bank Ltd. As an executive Committee Member, he led the Bank’s Strategic Planning and Corporate Social Responsibility effort. He has varied experience as a Consultant in Economics, Banking, Sports and Media. He has consulted for the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC, Ghana) and the African Centre for Economic Growth (ACEG).
He has over thirteen years teaching experience at the University of Ghana where he handled graduate and undergraduate levels courses in Economics.
Dr. Baah-Nuakoh has served on the Board, Management and Committees of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC Ltd, the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana League Clubs Association. He was the Host of various Television and Radio Talk Shows and a newspaper columnist 12 years. He is a Harvard Alumnus and holds a PhD from the University of Stirling, UK and an MPhil and Bachelor’s degrees in Economics from the University of Ghana. Dr. Baah-Nuakoh is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (Gh.) and the Institute of Public Relations (IPR – Ghana).
Nana Osei-Kuffour Poku is fundamentally a petroleum engineer with a bachelors and master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering. His experience spans over 10 years in the upstream industry having assumed different technical and managerial roles across service companies, national oil companies and E&P operators.
He currently holds the position of a senior drilling engineer for Aker Energy Ghana Ltd and was a key member of the team that designed and drilled the Pecan wells and AGM discovery well in 2019. He is currently involved in developing Aker Energy’s plan of development for the Pecan field which will be operated in ultra-deep water (2400 – 2700m water depth).
Prior to joining Aker Energy, he worked at GNPC as a petroleum engineer and took up key roles in various upstream projects. For six years he also worked at National Oilwell Varco (NOV), transitioning from a drilling solutions engineer into the key accounts manager for Ghana and the North West Africa Region supervising multiple operations across different countries in the sub Saharan region.
With regards to interests, Nana Poku has a passion for artificial intelligence and technology within the oil and gas industry. He is also a keen advocator for reduction of carbon emissions through cost effective technology and innovation.
Bharathwaj Kannan is the Area Manager for North-West Africa and Managing Director for Halliburton Operations Ghana Limited since Aug 2018. He has 18 years of industry experience and has held various technical, managerial and leadership roles in US, Brunei, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from University of Madras and a Master’s degree from Texas A&M University, both in Mechanical Engineering. He holds three Halliburton patents, is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
Ishmael Amegah is a seasoned executive with over 16 years’ experience spanning International Development & Diplomacy, Policy Planning, Corporate Governance and Strategy.
He worked with international organisations such as the USAID, UNDP, Barclays Bank. He joined the Petroleum Commission in 2012 and supported the Commission’s work particularly in the development of regulations and guidelines for the upstream petroleum sector including health, safety and environment, technology transfer, research and development among others.
Ishmael is an ICF Certified Productivity Coach, a member of the Ghana Institute of Directors, an Executive Director of Southey Contracting Ltd and Ensol Energy Ghana.
Gertrude Adwoa Ohene-Asienim FICS is a Chartered Shipbroker, Maritime Consultant, Lecturer, and Trainer with years of experience in various aspects of Shipping and Oil & Gas. Her areas of specialization cuts across Maritime Law, Marine Insurance, and International Commercial Trade.
She started her career in Oil & Gas as a Shipbroker being the first female Chartered Shipbroker in West Africa and she continues to charter ships in support of various operations in Ghana. Her knowledge in joint venture company formation and management has increased over the years having been involved in the set up and management of not less than four joint venture companies in the areas of seismic acquisition, subsea engineering and FPSO maintenance and operations services.
Gertrude is a fun-loving trainer who concentrates on providing training to bridge the gap between practicality of knowledge and application at the work environment.
She is currently the global Membership Committee Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London, Country Manager for PGS Ghana and OMA Labour and Procurement Solutions. She is also a Part Time Lecturer at the Regional Maritime University, Ghana. She holds a Master of Laws degree in Maritime Law from the University of Oslo.
She loves to mentor the next generation and believes the world is more beautiful than meets the eye.
Mr Michael Nii Armah Aryeetey is the Manager for Exploration & Appraisal, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). Prior to his appointment to this position, he was the Chief Operating Officer for the GNPC Exploration & Production Company Ltd (EXPLORCO), a subsidiary of GNPC. Mr Aryeetey has worked for the GNPC for almost 18 years.
Prior to that he has spent several years working as Teaching Assistant at UG, and a mineral explorationist with gold exploration companies in Ghana. In the last seventeen years, his work at GNPC has cut across oil geological and geophysical studies of offshore blocks, block promotion, License Negotiations and appraisal, development, and production operations.
Mr. Aryeetey has served on various Committees established by GNPC, Ministry of Energy and the Government of Ghana because of his knowledge of the Upstream Industry in Ghana. He has presented Technical Papers and featured on expert panel discussions in Ghana and at international conferences across the world (USA, UK, France, South Africa, UK, Italy, Nigeria, Morocco, etc.).
Mr. Aryeetey holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Ghana, a Master of Science degree in Petroleum Geoscience from the NTNU, Norway and an Executive MBA in Project Management from the University of Ghana Business School. He is a Part-time lecturer for the Graduate Program at the Earth Science Department of the University of Ghana.
