To advance industrialization in emerging economies, technology transfer has been identified as a major catalyst that when properly pursued will aid indigenous businesses in developing countries to catch up with their counterparts in developed nations in terms of know-how, technical knowledge or technology. However, for transfer of technology to be effective, the process must be guided by policies, procedures and values of each organisation involved in the process. In order to increase the quantum/percentage of locally produced goods and services rendered to the oil and gas industry as well as increase the international competitiveness of Ghanaian companies  in the industry, technology transfer must be prioritized and prudently executed.

This session will present Ghana’s technology transfer journey in the upstream oil and gas industry, looking into the prospect and challenges it possess for Local Content Development.
