The upstream oil and gas industry is highly technical and requires professionals with the requisite know-how and experience to execute daily operational tasks. Unfortunately, due to the technical sophistication of the industry and the fact that it is relatively fledging in Ghana there exist a noticeable skills gap in the industry especially at this kairos moment of global energy transition. Aging workforce, advanced technologies, reluctant millennials, and training challenges specific to the oil and gas industry are some factors contributing to the oil and gas industry skills gap globally. This session will anatomize the current skills gap in the upstream petroleum industry and provide answers to bridge this gap.
